Jonathan, In fact, in interviews King Abdullah has said that everything is negotiable so long as the Palestinians agree to the outcome. Border adjustments and exchanges already have been accepted by the PA. The real issue is whether any Israeli leader has the courage (and political capital)to confront the settler movement and demand real (as opposed to cosmetic) withdrawals. As I have said in earlier postings, the trade-off is 1) giving up right of return in exchange for 2) real -- i.e., 95%+ -- withdrawal and East Jerusalem. The Saudiplan says to me that the Arabs are ready for this trade-off; is Israel? When you say that Palestinians "by definition" are not Israelis, I wonder if you are including Palesitnian citizens of Israel? Do you not believe that they should be treated as full citizens? If not, then you are admitting that Israel is a sectarian state.
