Jane. Your whole post was as if inspired by Orwell himself! "they are the unfortunate victims of Gaza`s bad choices and behavior" They had the temerity to vote for the party that was less corrupt and more able to offer practical social programs for them. "Israel has finally decided to answer Hamas`s declaration of war against it" Even though Hamas wished and articulated for Abbas to negotiate a peace on behalf of the PA, and even though Hamas proffered a total ceasefire if the IDF would reciprocate in the West Bank. "Too bad they have chosen to destroy what Israel built in Gaza." The IDF destroyed much more, still let's not quibble about buildings. "But of course they take no responsibility for their bad choices so why should this be any different?" Now that really does apply at least in equal measure, to the Israeli government. Why didn't they empower Abbas BEFORE the elections. Why did they not at least try and let Abbas negotiate a peace which Hamas then could have endorsed or rejected thus risking the wrath of the Palestinians who clearly are ready for a fair peace if given the opportunity. ie: at least the majority are? Perhaps those government ministers responsible for such poor choices will reflect , this Yom Kippur on lost opportunities. Somehow I doubt it.
