I believe that a disciplined army is a necessity. A moral army (particularly with a conscience regarding civilians) is thumbs up. I would expect that though the Haredim are rather VERY strict, such discipline should be welcomed, especially in the IDF. It is simple really: 1. Accommodate them re: kosher. In time of active war duty, they will adapt to eat whatever is available- law of necessity. 2. Accommodate prayer. I am appalled by Jews who deride Ilan for mentioning this type of accommodation. The Ancient Israelites always held deeply to the truth that YHWH goes with them into battle. Take a page out of their example. 3. Keep sexual immorality OUT of the army. Godliness should be esteemed in Israel, especially by those who will hope to defend the nation.
