It could be pure and simple butchery on part of the Turks. But, the Turks and Arabs did not part on good terms, regardless of religion, as far as I can tell. The Arab provinces of the dying Ottoman Empire were less than friendly and loyal -- TE Lawrence did not become famous delivering pizza and the Arabs did not get independence fighting for the invading Western (and yes, Christian) powers. Regardless, the Ottomans were not in any shape to deliver sound and strong governance -- it was the Sick Man of Europe and bankrupt. They could not feed or properly supply its armies in hot battle, could not even hold on to the prized Holy Lands or the oil-rich areas. On the other hand, when the Ottomans were strong/healthy/able, your ancestors and many other nations survived intact. You retained your religion, language and even land (Assyrians still in Syria/Lebanon, Greeks in Greece, etc.). Compare your communities' fate with that of the Native Americans or Jews of Europe.
