Jerusalem was an international city from 1948-1967. Or at least, it was supposed to be. But the world let Jordan have it. Israel is the only power that has demonstrated it will respect the right of other religions to visit their holy sites in Jerusalem, and by far the biggest mistake they've made in its administration was handing the Temple Mount to the Muslim Waqf. Why should we trust a group that's already failed, rather than a group whose biggest mistake in 40 years was being too willing to give others control over their own holy sites?
