Who cares what some leftie wrote about Jerusalem in 1854? And who cares if Jews lived in Jerusalem for a very very long time? The claim that the only time Jews did not live in Jerusalem was between 1948 and 1967 is pure baloney. Abraham entered the land of Canaan c. 1935 B.C. There he was met and hosted by Melchizedek, a Jebusite king and priest. According to the Hebrew bible, the Jebusites built Jerusalem. From 1935 B.C. until 2010 A.D (today) Jerusalem has been controlled by the Jebusites, Jews, Persians, Greeks, Maccabeans (Jews) Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Crusaders, Mamluks, Ottoman, and British, and from 1948 until today, Jews again. Over that span of 3,945 years, Jerusalem has been controlled by Jews for 625 years. The Jebusites controlled Jerusalem longer then the Jews. But again, who cares? UN resolution 181 under which Israel declared Jerusalem an independent city,”corpus separatum.” Israeli annexation of Jerusalem is a violation of the 4th Geneva Convention and so is building on the annexed territory. Breaches of articles of the Convention are considered war crimes before the International Criminal Court in the Hague. If the US decides to withdraw its veto policy from proposed anti-Israeli UNSC resolutions, the Hague is the first stop the Israeli government will make when it wakes up the next morning. So who cares how long Jews lived in Jerusalem? The Jebusites lived there longer.
