I was proposing a bold Israeli offer (along the Geneva initiative) either presented to president Abbas or to the Palestinian people directly. Then Israel could sit back and let the Palesti- nians (hopefully by peaceful means) fight it out. If they accept it, great. If they refuse I could not blame Israel, if she would take unilateral steps. That might then also include a withdrawal from the West Bank, but probably not as much as the Palestinians might have liked it.
