Briefly, since my previous post has not surfaced. Soldiers are captured on the battle field, or when surrendering. They are not kidnapped from their sovereign country's territory. Such a kidnapping/hostage taking is a violation of the laws of war. Gillad Shalit, as well as Regev and Goldwasser, were kidnapped from their countries, and are kept as hostages, in violation of the laws of war. They are all entitled to all of the protections of the Geneva Conventions.
