Soldiers are CAPTURED on BATTLE FIELDS. Soldiers are captured when they surrender. Soldiers are not captured in a sovereign state where they are fulfilling their duties toward their country, and minding their own business. When a soldier is taken hostage from his own sovereign state, and taken to another territory, that is called kidnapping. Such hostage taking is a violation of international law, and a serious violation of national sovereignty. It is for this reason that other sovereign states have taken this kidnapping so seriously. No country can possibly envision the prospect of having its soldiers kidnapped from its sovereign territory by hostile forces. That is also the reason why there were no protests during Lebanon II. The international community cannot allow the entire international order to fall appart. There is too much chaos being created as it is.
