Ronnie, the guy is, after all, becoming a politician to some degree--in the sense that for a seasoned pol the game itself--with all its duplicity, doublespeak, hypocrisy and deviousness--is dimly felt to be a subsitute for (rather than prelude to) going out and shooting somebody in the neck. Hitler, for example, yes, played a politician to get power, but was more comfortable shedding the politician's suit for the garb of a permanently psychotic psychologically-arrested 12-year-old. The elder Assad was a seasoned politician by way of contrast, and a darn good one. Olmert seems to be auditioning for the role of parolee before the fact.
