The Mandates were created by the Allies themselves (not the League, btw), and their intent was to ready those territories for Statehood. And, yes, to incorporate promises made to various Very Helpful People Who Killed Lots of Turks and Germans between 1914-18. "The general intent was to reserve the Palestinian Mandate west of the Jordan River for Jews"...Nope. A homeland *in* Palestine, not a homeland *of* Palestine... "and the eastern part (Trans-Jordan) for Arabs" ...Nope. For the Hashemites. Not for all the Arabs they could squeeze into it. I mean, what do you take the inter-war British for? They were not into this "ethnic cleansing" rubbish of forced transfer and involuntary mass migration. Not in the ME, nor anywhere else. "we`re still trying to cope with the consequences of the diplomatic blunders of the League of Nations" - don't blame the League; they only supervised the Mandatories, they did not control them. Blame Balfour, and his little promise.
