The 'evacuation' of Gaza is often quoted as the example where the Israeli Government took a bold move for peace after painful soul searching etc and look how they were thanked etc etc. Schlum klum. There was no improvement of live for the Gazans. The glasshouses were dismantled because growers had no water to carry on growing anything. Let's look at it factually. What changed for the Gazans? Absolut gar nichts. Prior to the 'evacuation' the Gazans had no control over air, sea or land access points to the Strip. it was an open-air prison camp. After the 'evacuation' the Gazans had no control over land, sea or air access. It was still an open-air prison camp. And it remains as such. All that happened was a malevolent political calculation that saw some of the settlers transferred to the West Bank, in (another) contravention of the Geneva Protocols. Just as for the reasons for 9/11 and for the reasons for the Qassam rockets - treat the causes not the symptoms.
