Dear Mark--Glad to see that you are looking at issues a little differently now. I agree w/ your posting except for the Syrian comment about they want land more than peace. Since WWII and the creation of the United NAtions, it was decided that after wars the winner doesn't take the spoils--especially real estate. Section 7 of the UN Charter also states this concept. Israel as an UN country has agreed to returning land taken in war; therefore many experts and countries believe that ISrael must eventually give back the Golan Heights.
