    We Jews are the indigenous people of the land of Israel. My great-grandmother is buried on Mt. Olives in Jerusalem and her grave was desecrated by the Arab invaders in 1948. Much of the so-called Palestinian population immigrated to this land in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, drawn here by the economic opporetunities opened up by Zionist investment and dwevelopment. Many came from the Hauran Mts. in Syria, which is why they were labeled "Hauranis". Others immigrated from Jordan. Yes, there were indigenous Arabs as well, but they arrived here mostly from the 7th-8th centuries. There were also non-Arab, non-Jewish inhabitants, mostly Christian. But there were Jewish populations in the Land of Israel without a break from Second Temple times. The text of the Hebrew Bible awas finalized by Jews in Tiberias in the 10th century. Ask Tosefta. The Shulhan Arukh, trhe most important manual of Jewish religious practice, was written in Safed in the 16th century,
