#1 and similar ideologues--it is more than reflexive, it is more accurately reactionary, to believe that those you don't agree with are knowingly evil and, demonic, even though, admittedly, the image of the neoconservative war monger serves to activate projected and threatening psychic isolation of "the other" as it has since classical modern anti-Semitism, or indeed, other purification mechanims of group reinforcement as with the Inquisition, the Salem witch hysteria, etc. It is no less a "neoconservative" than Elliot Abrams who has labeled attacking Iran military as "crazy"--similar lets-wait-and-see sentiments have been heard from Charles Krauthammer and Victor Hanson (who urged not military action but helping of dissidents). Straw men are uselessly rhetorical targets.
