A collection of Judaica is on display at a pre-auction show organized by Sotheby’s at the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center in Moscow.

Among the Michael and Judy Steinhardt Judaica collection is an English silver “Lord Mayor’s dish”.

The exhibit precedes sales of the Judaica collection that will be conducted by Sotheby’s in New York in April.

Former hedge-fund manager Michael Steinhardt told The Wall Street Journal that his love of Jewish culture led him to amass his large collection of Jewish ceremonial art over more than 30 years.

The sale’s star work is the Frankfurt Mishneh Torah, a 15th-century illuminated Hebrew manuscript priced to sell for at least $4.5 million.

A companion volume is in the Vatican.
