Syria warns U.S. ambassador against meddling in internal affairs
State-run Syrian newspaper accuses U.S. envoy Robert Ford of supporting armed anti-government groups, says he must stop meddling if he wants to avoid more 'rotten eggs.'
A state-run Syrian newspaper has warned U.S. Ambassador Robert Ford against meddling in Syrian affairs if he wants to avoid more 'rotten eggs' attacks in the future.
The Al Baath newspaper on Sunday accused Ford of supporting armed anti-government groups in Syria. It says his meddling will not be tolerated.
Supporters of President Bashar Assad pelted Ford with eggs on Thursday as he visited a prominent Syrian opposition figure in Damascus.
The Obama administration summoned Syria's ambassador in Washington to hear formal U.S. condemnation of the assault.
Al Baath newspaper is a mouthpiece of the Syrian regime.
It says Ford should expect further "unpleasant treatment" as long as his country meddles in Syrian affairs.
