Payment of Chief Scientist's R&D grants stalled
The holdup appears to stem from a lack of approval by the Finance Ministry's budget division.
The Office of the Chief Scientist has been unable to disburse NIS 100 million in research and development grants to industry because it has not received the Finance Ministry's permission to release them, industry sources said on Wednesday.
The holdup appears to stem from a lack of approval by the Finance Ministry's budget division. In a response for this article, the ministry said the funds will be transferred in the coming weeks.
The Office of the Chief Scientist, which is part of the Industry, Trade and Labor Ministry, is also awaiting a NIS 300 million supplement to its budget.
Sources close to the issue said this week that the Finance Ministry's budget division has approved the additional sums but that the head of the division, Gal Hershowitz, is delaying the transfer.
With respect to that issue, the Finance Ministry said the Office of the Chief Scientist will receive what it has been promised.
