Haaretz.com/Channel 10 news roundup for July 17, 2008.
Lebanese terrorist Samir Kuntar and four other Lebanese prisoners held in Israeli jails were given a hero's welcome upon their return to Lebanon Wednesday, after they were exchanged earlier in the day for Israel Defense Soldiers Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev, abducted by the guerilla group in July 2006.
The prisoners and Kuntar were greeted at Beirut's Rafik Hariri International Airport by Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Siniora, President Michel Suleiman, and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berr.
Earlier in the day, hundreds of spectators turned out to celebrate as the freed prisoners, clad in combat fatigues made their first public appearance in Lebanon.
Kuntar was convicted of killing three people including a girl and her father in an attack in Nahariya in 1979.
