New Harpaz case unrelated to 'Galant document'
Justice Ministry announced the opening of a preliminary investigation on Thursday, in an effort to determine if a new criminal case should be opened in the Harpaz affair.
A new police and Shin Bet security service investigation against Lt. Col. (res. ) Boaz Harpaz does not relate to the case of forgery of a document Harpaz has admitted creating in a purported effort to affect the selection of the IDF chief of staff, but to unrelated conduct on Harpaz's part, according to a Justice Ministry statement over the weekend. On Thursday, the ministry announced the opening of a preliminary investigation, in an effort to determine if a new criminal case should be opened in the Harpaz affair, beyond the forgery investigation. The Justice Ministry statement follows harsh accusations by Defense Minister Ehud Barak against outgoing IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi in which Barak accuses Ashkenazi of problems of an "ethical, normative and even professional background."
