Six Justice Ministry committees are addressing matters related to the evacuation of residents of settlements in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, the ministry's director-general, Aharon Abramovitz, stated yesterday.

Speaking yesterday at a session of the Knesset Constitution, Law and Justice Committee, Abramovitz disclosed that the panels were handling a number of matters related to the withdrawal. The committees include an administrative team that will coordinate the various government bodies dealing with the evacuation; a compensations panel; a committee to handle international aspects; a committee for dialogue with the settlers; a committee to coordinate legal activities for the interim period preceding the legislation of laws governing the disengagement; and a committee to deal with amendments to laws that might be needed.

The chairman of the Constitution, Law and Justice Committee, MK Michael Eitan (Likud) said that Abramovitz's testimony indicated that civil servants were vigorously carrying out details of Sharon's disengagement plan.
