The head of the National Security Council, Ilan Mizrahi, on Wednesday presented members of the security cabinet with a summary of the classified sections in the Winograd Committee's partial report on the Second Lebanon War.

The ministers were also updated on the progress in the Israel Defense Forces on correcting failures highlighted in the report, which harshly criticized Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Defense Minister Amir Peretz and former IDF chief Dan Halutz.

Olmert said that the cabinet would convene on a regular basis to begin its discussions on the situation in different fronts, the security outlook for Israel and the failures exposed by the Winograd report in three areas: decision-making in the military, decision-making at the diplomatic level, and the interaction between the IDF and the diplomatic echelon.

These topics will also be examined by a new committee set up to implement the Winograd recommendations.
