Lieberman: MK Tibi endangers Israel more than Hamas, Jihad
Israeli Arab MK tells Fatah convention that future Palestinian state must be 'clean of settlers.'
Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman on Wednesday accused Israeli Arab MK Ahmed Tibi of being more "dangerous" to Israel's national interests than Hamas or Islamic Jihad.
Tibi, who heads the United Arab List, told a Fatah convention in the West Bank town of Bethlehem on Tuesday that the future Palestinian state should be "clean of settlers," adding in a message to Israelis: "Get off Palestinian lands, get out of our souls, get out!"
During his visit to the border village of Ghajar on Wednesday, Lieberman slammed Tibi over the remarks, saying Israel's "main problem isn't the Palestinians but Ahmed Tibi and others like him - they're more dangerous than both Hamas and Islamic Jihad combined."
Eearlier Wednesday, Likud MK Ofir Akunis urged Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin to fire Tibi from his position as deputy Knesset speaker.
Rivlin answered that, while he regretted to hear Tibi's comments, it was not his job to censor other MKs.
