Cam Kerry, brother of former presidential candidate Senator John Kerry, converted to Judaism 25 years ago.
Cam Kerry, the brother of former presidential candidate Senator John Kerry who also serves as vice chairman of the National Jewish Democratic Council, has been named to a key post in the Obama administration, the Jewish Telegraph Agency reported on Sunday.
Kerry was tapped to be general counsel of the Commerce Department.
"Cam has been an indispensable part of our leadership team at NJDC where we have come to rely on his sage advice and strong leadership," said NJDC chairman Marc Stanley. "Cam has a strong presence in the Jewish community; he played a principal role in 2004 by rallying the Jewish vote on behalf of the Democratic ticket."
The JTA reported that Kerry converted to Judaism upon marrying his wife 25 years ago.
