Having already amassed thousands of followers on Twitter, Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, continues to experiment with new technology - he recently joined Instagram, the photo-sharing app.

The user Khamenei_ir currently has 272 followers and has uploaded four images using a range of filters that are available on the application. Khamenei tweeted his fourth photograph to his 5,000 followers on Twitter. The image, which currently has 65 likes on instagram, shows him on his knees, in a prayer pose, with a number of men behind him in the same pose.

In another photograph, the Supreme Leader stands in the foreground. Behind him, dimmed by the instagram filter, is Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, seen in profile talking with someone in the background.

The first Israelis to find out that Iran's Supreme Leader had joined the network have already left some less than peaceful comments, including the messages, "I'm from Israel, kiss my ass," written in English, and, "Israel will win," written in Hebrew.

Iran last year worked to establish an internal Iranian network, and reported that it intended to sever the country from the World Wide Web. Yet in April, Iranian officials denied the report.
