Israel Defense Forces troops operating in Jenin and Nablus killed 11 Palestinians, including five civilians, during the course of the holiday weekend. One of the fatalities was an 11-year-old girl and six were members of armed Palestinian groups.

According to Palestinian sources, an IDF unit operating in the Old City of Nablus early Wednesday surrounded 85-year-old Suhil Kilani's home, where five wanted terror suspects were holed up. During the operation, there were heavy exchanges of fire between the troops and the gunmen, lasting several hours, and during which four members of the Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade were shot dead. Also killed during the operation was a member of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestinian, who was also wanted by the IDF.

It was during the evacuation of the bodies that the 11-year-old girl, Miram a-Nahla, was killed. According to family members, the girl and her mother were standing in the doorway of their home, shouting instructions to the arriving ambulances regarding the location of the bodies, when a shot was fired in the girl's direction. The bullet hit the girl in the chest and she later died in hospital.

According to the girl's family, the shot was fired from a position recently taken by the IDF, overlooking the girl's house. Military sources reported that a preliminary investigation showed that, while there had been two shooting incidents in the area at the time, no shots had been fired in the direction of the girl.

In an incident in Jenin, four Palestinians were killed in an undercover operation at a garage in the north of the city. According to Palestinian sources, troops traveling in two vehicles descended on a garage belonging to a local man, just minutes after the arrival of the man's brother, a known member of Islamic Jihad. Also at the garage were two other men, both unarmed

civilians, who had arrived to have their cars serviced. According to eyewitnesses, the undercover troops entered the garage and shots were immediately heard. After the shooting ended, the troops left the area, and locals discovered the four bodies. The IDF has not yet made any official comment on the incident.

On Friday, a 19-year-old Nablus woman was killed when she was shot by a passing IDF patrol, according to Palestinian sources. The sources claimed that the woman was on the roof of her house when one of the soldiers left the jeep, took aim and shot her. A physician who rushed to the scene pronounced her dead. The IDF has not commented on the report.
