Former Israeli soccer player shot dead while driving
Eli Uzan, 49, was found dead in Be'er Sheva at scene of car accident.
Former Hapoel Be'er Sheva soccer player Eli Uzan was found dead on Tuesday morning, his car slammed into an electrical pole in the Negev city.
Police suspect the 49-year-old was shot dead while driving, causing him to crash the vehicle.
Authorities summoned to the scene immediately said the crash did not strike them as a regular accident, but rather the result of a criminal act.
Blood stains found inside the car were apparently incongruent with those that could have been caused by the impact of the crash.
The Be'er Sheva Police opened an investigation into the incident and determined that Ozen must have been shot dead prior to the crash.
His body was brought to the Abu Kabir Forensics Institute for examination.
