Actress Sheila MacRae of Honeymooners fame dies at 93
Actress portrayed Alice Kramden in the 1960s TV series, one of the first shows to portray working-class married couples living unglamourously in NYC.
English Actress Sheila MacRea who played Alice Kramden in the 1960s TV series the Honeymooners, a feature of the Jackie Gleason Show, has died the Hollywood Reporter confirmed Friday.
MacRae played opposite Gleason as Ralph Kramden’s wife from 1966-70 on the sitcom. The Honeymooners was one of the first U.S. television shows to portray working-class married couples living unglamourously in a New York City apartment.
Among MacRae’s other roles was as herself in an I Love Lucy episode, on the soap opera General Hospital as Madelyn Richmond and as a regular on Parenthood, according to Variety. She also had guest appearances on the Love Boat, the paper said.
MacRae died at the Lillian Booth Actors Home in Englewood, New Jersey, the Hollywood Reporter said citing a spokesperson for the nursing care facility.
