Both of Rishon’s handball teams lose

Even old-timers in Rishon Letzion can barely remember when both of the city’s handball teams dropped Premier League games on the same day. The champion, Hapoel, traveled to Hadar Yosef Friday for a tough meeting with upstart Maccabi Tel Aviv. Bojan Butilija, who starred for Hapoel the previous two years, was waiting for them in yellow and scored 10 goals. His replacement on Hapoel, Tiomir Dodar, didn’t score at all as Tel Aviv led as much as by six goals before settling for a 29-27 victory. Maccabi Rishon went farther north to face Maccabi Kiryat Motzkin, to which it had lost in the Referees Association Cup. Yesterday Kiryat Motzkin came out on top again, winning 24-20, thanks to six goals by Barak Omer. (Rami Hipsh)
