Father in Dolev settlement forgets 1.5-year old infant in car in third such incident in two weeks.
A one-and-a-half-year old infant died after being left in a car in the Dolev settlement near Ramallah Monday morning. This is the second such incident in a day and third in two weeks. In all incidents, the babies died.
Initial reports from police indicate that the father forgot the child in the car. A man who passed by the car noticed the baby and called rescue services. Paramedics found her in critical condition and evacuated her to the Tel Hashomer Hospital, where she died.
On Sunday a five-month-old baby died after being forgotten in a car in the southern West Bank settlement of Shiloh. Magen David Adom paramedics called to the scene failed to resuscitate her, and pronounced her dead on the scene.
According to police reports, the father, who works in security, had just completed a graveyard shift. In the morning, he took his three-year old daughter to school along with his five-month old. After dropping off the older girl at her pre-school, he forgot the five-month old in the car and went to sleep. At 4:00 P.M. when his wife called him, he realized he had forgotten her there.
Two weeks ago, an eight-month-old baby died after her father left her for hours in a car in Ramat Gan. Investigation into that incident revealed that the father, who was suspected of neglect, left his house on the morning of her death with his three children and was meant to take his daughter to a babysitter. While driving that morning, he received a phone call from his employer. Following the call, he returned to his house and left the car parked, with his daughter inside and the windows shut.
