Two-year-old Palestinian Boy Dies in Fire in East Jerusalem Refugee Camp

A fire broke out of the second floor of a residential building in Shuafat; no other casualties were reported

A two-year-old Palestinian boy died on Saturday morning in a fire that broke out in the Shuafat refugee camp in East Jerusalem. An investigation has been opened into the circumstances of the fire.

The Jerusalem District Police reported that police and firefighting teams entered the refugee camp to extinguish the blaze, which broke out on the second floor of a residential building.

The child was evacuated in critical condition by the Red Crescent to Makassed Hospital in East Jerusalem, where he was pronounced dead. Emergency services present carried out a search and evacuation of the building. No additional casualties were identified.
