Grant was born and raised in Petah Tikva. He began his career as the manager of the local Hapoel team, after which he went on to coach Israeli clubs Maccabi Tel Aviv – 2 championships (1992, 1995) and the Israel State Cup - Hapoel Haifa, and Maccabi Haifa – 2 chamiponships (2001, 2002).
Avram Grant also coached the Israeli national team and the English Premier League’s Chelsea FC, which he led to the OEFA Champions Legue final, only to stumble before Manchester United in a penalty shootout that followed a 1-1 draw.
Grant is married to the Israeli television host Tzofit Grant.
