'Paris on Water,' by Tel Aviv University student Hadas Ayalon, is the first Israeli movie to win a place in the Student Academy Awards, in best foreign film category.
An Israeli student film is among the three finalists to be awarded a Student Academy Award in the best foreign language category. "Paris on Water," made by Tel Aviv University student Hadas Ayalon, is the first Israeli student film to win a place in the Student Academy Awards, whose 41st annual ceremony will be held June 7.
The other two finalists are “Border Patrol” by the UK’s Peter Baumann and “Nocebo” by Germany’s Lennart Ruff. At the show, each film will find out whether they receive the gold, silver or bronze award. Awards are also given in the categories: Narrative, Documentary, Alternative, and Animation.
The 27-minute "Paris on Water" is about a famous actress who gets a chance to make a comeback but is then forced to confront personal issues that arise. The movie will premiere next month at the Tel Aviv international student festival.
All the finalists are invited by the Academy to Los Angeles for a week of events in the run-up to the award show.
