The meeting planned for yesterday between Jordan's King Abdullah and Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas was cancelled because weather conditions precluded the landing of the king's helicopter in Ramallah.
During the visit, which would have been the monarch's first to the West Bank in seven years, the leaders were to discuss the Arab League's Middle East peace initiative. Abbas spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh said the visit would be rescheduled.
Jordanian Foreign Minister Abdelelah Al-Khatib, and his PA counterpart, Ziad Abu Amr, met in Amman on Saturday to prepare for the meeting.
