Brigitte Höss currently lives in northern Virginia, in the United States. She is retired, after having spent thirty years working at a Washington D.C. fashion salon. Her childhood, however, was spent living at different concentration camps, as her father Rudolf Höss, climbed the ranks of the SS during World War Two. Höss was the subject of a Washington Post Magazine interview, published on Saturday.
Höss only agreed to be interviewed on condition that the Post not reveal her married name, or any other details regarding her identity. "There are crazy people out there. They might burn my house down or shoot somebody,” Höss told the Post.
According to the Post, Höss lived with her family at Dachau from ages 1 through 5 and Sachsenhausen from 5 to 7. When she was 7 years old, her father was appointed Kommandant of Auschwitz.
