The Council for Cable and Satellite Broadcasting will be issuing a public tender for a new channel that will be devoted to Jewish heritage.
The council issued Sunday a call for public suggestions as to what the station should broadcast and how it can be geared to the religious, ultra-Orthodox, secular and traditional audiences.
The station, as well as another aimed at the country's Arab citizens, have both featured in the council's plans, but both have also been delayed.
The Arab station is now moving ahead and officials hope that after a failed attempt in 2004 to establish a Jewish heritage channel, this time it will succeed.
The station is to be supported by advertising.
