Forget the ultra-Orthodox; focus on settlers

Support the settlers.

This analysis is simply wrong. Yes the settlements cost money...but so does tel aviv or tveria. Haredim consume resources and do not contribute. Settlers pay taxes like everyone else and the Joey spent on settlement infrastructure is roughly the same (and sometimes considerably less) than in the rest of Israel. If you want to oppose settlement for political reasons that's fine...but for economic reasons - it just makes no sense. Sure you can quote how much each sector costs...but just tally how much they cost vs how much they contribute. If you do that calculation the Haredim and Arab sectors (with huge informal, non-tax paying employment) are the big net takers.

I concur with every word in the article. Another issue we might wish to address is the silence of our religious and secular leaders about the growing frequency of hate (racial) crimes perpetrated against Arabs and African migrants. I haven't heard a single Rabbi of stature come out against this (nor have our political leadership).

Actually, some of the most self destructive and wasteful issues that stand in the way of a final status agreement with the Palestinians are not what you note. Others are liberal/progressive Jewish support for the Pals., Beinart/Leving-like support for anti-Zionism, and also Arab terror, incitement, etc.
