Discovering, on Hanukkah, the primordial light in human beings
Hanukkah is the one Jewish holiday that reminds us of the human desire to find warmth within the cold, light amidst the darkness.
It’s getting pretty dark around here. Nestled in the Northern Hemisphere, as the winter solstice approaches, sometimes it feels as though the darkness is closing in around us. The alarm clock goes off at 6 A.M. and the sun has not yet risen. By the time we get the kids dressed, pack the lunches, load the car and my wife leaves to drive them to school, the sun has barely risen.
