Oliver Stone apologizes for saying Jews control the media

Less than 24 hours after Sunday Times interview, in which Oscar-winning director says Hitler's actions should be 'put into context', Stone issues apology.

By Haaretz Service

Less than 24 hours after saying that the Jews control Washington's foreign policy and the media, and that Hitler's actions should be "put into context," Hollywood director Oliver Stone issued an apology on Monday, saying he "made a clumsy association about the Holocaust."

Stone had told British publication The Sunday Times that U.S. public opinion was focused on the Holocaust as a result of the "Jewish domination of the media." The remarks sparked a massive backlash, with a large number of Jewish organizations and Israeli officials publicly condemning the director's comments.

In a statement released Monday, Stone said that, "In trying to make a broader historical point about the range of atrocities the Germans committed against many people, I made a clumsy association about the Holocaust, for which I am sorry and I regret."

Stone added that he did not believe that Jews control the media, or any other industry , and that the fact that the Holocaust was still an important and current topic is actually a great achievement and a credit to those committed to perpetuating the memory of the atrocities commited during that period.

No one can speak their mind. First it was Mel Gibson when he made remarks about the Jews, then it was Helen Thomas and now Oliver stone. And the fact remains that these guys had to apologize; why? if the Jews did not own the media why would they worry? Because those fools think that they live in a free world so they speak their mind; then when they realize that there are red-lines which they should not cross; because they are speaking the truth..they apologize.

It truly takes a lot of guts to speak one's mind and to sustain it in public grounds. Pressure mounts on those who dare to denounce what everybody knows but that they refuse to acknowledge in public out of fear of retaliation. Mel Gibson mentioned one opinion that has cost him endless pain. Finkelstein has opposed the account on the Holocau$t and such has lent him prosecution from every corner of AIPAC. It is true indeed that Zionism controls the media and that such force opposes all attempts to tell the whole story. Oliver is as bold and courageous as Henry Ford, whom in his own time was fearless to express his own views on a topic he knew very well from inside. I sincerely hope that Finkelstein is not completely right in his views that at some point in the future, the Goyim world will grow fed up of today's miscounts and will punish innocent Jews all over the world.

There are Jewish institutions, such as the ADL, which make it their business to insure that Jews and Israel are presented in the best light possible in the media. This is not the same as controlling the media. If there is any negative images presented of Jews or of Israel, these organizations will stage protests, activate lawyers, call upon the influence of Jewish money, and various other means to give the sourse of the negative images a hard time. This happens whether the reporting was true and accurate or not. As a result, it is rare to see negative images of Jews or of Israel in the American media. This has limited reporting of events in the mideast in the American media and has insured that no op ed pieces criticize Israel.

In America almost all of the mainstream media reports with a pro-Israel slant. A few Israelis hurt gets a big article while many Palestinian children killed might get a few sentences. Re: Hitler too his point was important. Hitler was a follower not a leader, a product of his times. Blaming Hitler for the Holocaust is simplistic

conspiracy theory, the line btw fact and fiction

Conspiracy theory says the Jews control the media. Oliver Stone's films are usually controversial and have won academy awards. Hollywood is made for entertainment. Will this film be true to fact and history, or dabble in fiction like conspiracy theories? We will certainly have to see the film which is bound to be controversial, as it is at the outset. Too bad, with the internet, more people are beseiged with conspiracy theories; fewer get a good education in school. Holocaust education as a part of genocide studies, I think, will be a new field of education, which will get included in more school curriculums. Yale now has an excellent dept. "Inglorious Bastards," was pulp fiction, and when you see Hitler portrayed, it is not in a historically correct situation, but is meant to portray him as an evil character, and I think most readers understand that. Conspiracy theories, on the other hand, are not correct, in any way. Hitler was a true monster. You cannot downplay Hitler and put forth conspiracy theories against the Jewish people. I think we will have to wait for the film to come out and see whether it will be liberal and educational as Oliver Stone intends or whether it will be attacked as historically inaccurate?

What a pathetic country this has become. Now he has to bow down before his masters and beg for forgiveness for stating facts. Hate facts - things that are true but you just can't bring up. It is common knowledge in other countries that jews control Hollywood and AIPAC controls US foreign policy. Pat Buchanan is right - America is an Israeli-occupied country.

Stone's comments misinterpret history in a big way, appear to whitewash Stalin, seek some logic to Hitler's madness and smell of anti-Semitism. The last characterization especially seems unfathomable in view of the fact that Stone's father was Jewish. Or perhaps he is just seeking publicity for his new movie.

Hmm.. This seems like something that was done intentionally. An intelligent man such as Oliver makes a statement he knows will stir up controversy and that is publicized, and then after it is out and has reached its target audience, he offers an..."apology"? ROFL! That was no "apology" from the secular mainstream non-orthodox half-Jewish Mr. Stone--THAT was Chutzpah! ROFL! And that was also the set-up for something MORE that is to come. Keep your eye open and pay very close attention.... When the tragedies of history are remade on the world's stage, its directors always hope for a block-buster at the "box office", and sometimes, they hope for an even a better hit than the first... ;-)

Most definitely! It just goes to show you that Oliver Stone was right in the first place about media control. You won't see this article anywhere in mainstream media in the West. He is also correct in the fact that many US companies including Dupont, Ford etc. made lots money off the Nazi Party. Why do you think the US came in late in the game in WWII after the Russians turned the war around. The US profited massively from WWII and got iteslf out of depression by pilaging Europe. As for the Russians, who remembers the 20 million + dead?
