Why did Adolf Hitler hate the Jews?
A new book claims the Nazi dictator blamed Jews for Germany's defeat in World War I.
By Haaretz Service Tags: Jewish World Israel news HitlerAdolf Hitler's hatred of Jews stemmed from his belief that they "stole" victory from the country in the First World War, according to a newly published book titled "November 9: How World War One Led to the Holocaust."
"The core of his hatred lies at the defeat of Germany in WWI," the book's author Joachim Riecker told the Daily Telegraph, "where Hitler blamed the Jews for defeat of the country, the collapse of the monarchy and the ruination of millions."
"Hitler saw the state 'poisoned' from within. Hitler lived in Munich, where Jews played a leading role in the revolution against the monarchy on Nov. 9, 1918. So suddenly the delusion came to his mind, that the Jews where the reason for the 'inner poisoning' of Germany and that they had stolen the victory from Germany," Riecker told the British paper.
Riecker discounts previous claims that Hitler began hating the Jews after a Jewish doctor, Eduard Bloch, unsuccessfully treated his mother Klara who was stricken with breast cancer and died from the disease in 1907.

Competition is sin. He viewed them as an esoteric threat to aryan rule. Thule society. Not always the inferior race class that is told.
... simply rubbish, socialist. that book is written by a well recognized historian, who is already a rich person -- due to the fact that his wife owns & runs a mid-sized company with an (2008) income of 575 mio euros. what's more important is the fact that the haaretz article itself is nothing but an unchecked copy of an incorrect article, first written by an infamous tabloid in the UK. if you are really interested in that stuff, check out http://www.spiegel.de/international/germany/0,1518,668362,00.html, than understand, than think again, than let go your biased opinion, than try to realize what history and it's lessons can be good for.
... understanding is absolutly right, dont't worry. =:-) the whole article written here @ haaretz is based on a false and complety wrong interpretation by some folks of the british gutter press; namely the infamous "daily mail", and the "daily telegraph". these --let's call them outlines -- were written without any serious background investigations, and, most disgusting, whithout even reading that monograph "Hitlers 9. November". just have a look for yourself @ http://www.spiegel.de/international/germany/0,1518,668362,00.html.
to hate jews. These feelings come from both non-jewish and jewish reinforcement of tragic patterens. The jewish relgion is one which is based on seperation of races. While Cristianity and Islam have at their core crital elements of jews-many of which are true. These patterens repeat themselves in an infinate progression- so to say that this person has that reason to hate ignors the bigger picture; and provides just another excuse for the whole thing to continue by supressing the real problem.
It was Hitler's mother, who was involved with a prominent Jewish young man and gave birth to Adolf, not his father, as rumored. This story was done by the SS and other German fabricators in order to remove Hitler from a 50% Jewish bloodline, which never would be accepted in Germany under the conditions laid down by Hitler, Himmler and Goebels. This then, gave Hitler more leeway to carry out the planned destruction of as many Jews as possible, in accordance with his own mother's plan of revenge. Race hatred, pure and simple. After many years, I will write the book and let history judge. Dear Gisela: your story to me will finally be told. As you said, that day in Queens, NY. "It must be told so that people will know the real reason why this happend" God bless you and Cora. Your son was an engineer in Israel. If you read this, please post so I can communicate with you. You can provide valuable background information. Thank You.
Quite possibly as he was a great believer in the mythic aryan something he was hypocritically not.
In world war one Jews were as loyal to Germany as any other German, secondly the kaiser forced the war upon them and it was Jews who helped finance the war.No doubt Jews were not loyal to Germany during the second world war but who would be when you are persecuted prior to anihilation. Are you aware it was a Jew who put forward hitlers name for a bravety award for a silver iron cross. One of hitlers early girlfriends was Jewish. Many Jews fought for Germany during the first world war and they were rewarded for their patriotism with death.
In Mein Kampf (I have not read the book myself as it is forbidden in the Netherlands) Hitler apparently accuses the Jews of having invented the conscience. By means of Christianity they then deviously managaed to infect the Germanic peoples with this affliction. This weakened the natural strength and will to power of the 'master race'. Hitler hated Jews, and he hated Christianity, because he held them both responsible for weakening the true, ruthless Germanic spirit. Hence his infatuation with the pre-Christian Germanic mythology.
seems like you've been reading a lot of propaganda and your pretty dim witted. My guess is you're also the product of inbreeding.
Hitler was not a anti-Semite by birth, but by indoctrination. Yes, he was bitter towards his Jewish grandparents not giving him an inheritance during his poverty years. But the real hatred was inspired when he joined the Nazi movement and more so as he was groomed for a leadership role in the party. To paraphrase, Hitler states in 'Mein Kampf' that he originally felt sympathy towards the Jews, but later after learning 'the truth' from the Nazi party leaders that Jews were the enemy of nationalist ethnic Germans. Hitler was a stooge, and in all reality Hitler was more concerned with war conquest than extermination of Jews, that was the passion of other Nazi party leaders, like Himmler, Hitler just gave them free reign.
What about all the other nazis and collaberateurs ? Why did they hat Jews ? Surely not all of them had personal reason to do so. The reason for the senseless and cruel persecution and killing of thousands of innocent people, cannot be summarised to that. One must understand the bigger picture and cannot but wonder how did thousands of people embarqued in such madness. That is the real question needs answer !
IT'S not always when someone gets help, will later appreciate what has been done for him. If the person in question, suffers from a lack of self-confidence,& doesn't want to show his weakness or that he got his position through someone else,he'd rather shun him than admit that he got his first push from an outsider & not through his own prowess. In this Meele of Austria, which was a junction of all sorts of types,& political parties.after WW1 It wasn't hard to hate any other group that made headway, while others lagged far behind.Especially if that person or group are looked upon as not belonging, but have power in their hands, then hatred coupled with revenge will want to find a way out. In this case,as one example; that person's paintings were rejected although he thought he had a masterpiece under his arm ! Probably, the office that rejected him was Jewish owned.............
This 'misunderstanding' thesis tries to exonerate Xtian Doctrine by blaming the Holacaust on a mere simple and understandable youthful misunderstanding. Nonsense. The 'creature' was raised a Catholic in an German era when religious education was mandatory and conservative teaching all the Xtain myths about Jews from the Middle Ages. He and his ideas are a product of 'sophisticated' Germany and the Church. Lutheran Church taught the same hatred of Jews.
The fact that the article never considers Alois (Adolf's father) Hitler's deep and vocal hatred for Jews. Basically, Hitler learned anti-Semitism from get-go; no connexion (other than by Riecker's invention) to Klara Plozl Hitler's passing!
Several years ago I interviewed on KBOO radio a scholar named Morris Engelson. According to him, Hitler believed that Jewish blood was literally poison, and he kept on his desk a vial of his own blood to check it for changes.
I believe that Colin in Post#1 is correct. If you read " Mein Kampf" you will find that Hitler had no hatred of the Jews until he heard anti-semitism used by political rabble rousers and realized it was useful in stirring up support. This is much like the current President of Iran.
The mindless hatred of jews dates back thousands of years, concern about Muslim honor killing, nun killing rampages over cartoons, firebombing of Christian Churches, fatwa against muslims who convert to Christianity is not a decent comparison.
maybe Colin, but what's your reason?
It is very unlikely that this physician was the reason for Hitlers Antisemitism. One fact makes that very clear: Hitler allowed the doctor to emigrate to the US later. If he hated him so much, he would have sent him to Dachau (like many other Austrian Jews) or just killed him. One short order would have been enough. There is no single-cause-explanation for Hitler's hate. And there are so many factors that play a role.
I think that Hitler hated Jews because they controlled the big businesses and banks and didnt share the wealth with others except only in their jewish communities. He also beleived that alot of the underworld crime like drugs and prostitution were controlled by the Jews and finally, he was oppossed to the ways the Jews would have their secret meetings and conspire things. This is what I understood from his book Mein Kampf
In Mein Kampf Hitler actually says he never had bad feelings towards Austrian and German Jews. It was only the large influx of alien Ostjuden that made him wonder if Jews really belonged in Christian Europe. Whether this is true or not, Hitler repeated this at a major rally during the war when he said the Jews you know personally may be above reproach but the Jews worldwide are a menace to Aryan civilisation.
You are correct that it is the phenomenon of hatred of a defenseless minority that must be understood if it is to be prevented or fought against. I believe that this same phenomenon is at work today in the mindless hatred of Muslims, based on ignorance and fear.
The statement re Hitlers mother turns things upsite down. This thesis was brought up by the US-historian Rudolph Binion but is not followed in this book. The title of the book "Hitlers Nov 9 - How WW1 led to the Holocaust" refers to Nov 9 1918, the date of the November-revolution in Germany and the fall of the monarchy. Germany was forced by a naval blockade that resulted in 2 million deaths into signing the capitulation on Nov 11 - contrary to the agreement with Wilson 14 Point plan. There is more info on the book (in german): http://www.maerkischeallgemeine.de/cms/beitrag/11655319/492531/Warum-die-Juden-von-den-Nazis-millionenfach-ermordet.html
adolf hitler's father is said to be anselm von rothschild's illegitimate son . none of the rothschilds was ever killed by the nazis . only their poor daughter in law was killed .
Search for cultural roots to understand why. Germans had great humanist tradition based on compassion (remember Marx feeling for English child labor force that no English cared to look at twice) but no democratic tradition at all. All German states had been autocratic ones. They trained their children to obey orders, not to discuss them. "Command is our elder," said old Estonians, a culturally and genetically pretty (or ugly) much German nation themselves.
many of Dr Bloch's visits and treatments to Hiotler's mother were never charged for by Dr Bloch.
...but I tend to think that it has something to do with Germans being a minority in Austrian-Hungarian Empire. Mein Kamph indicates Hitler hated all other minorities, especially Czechs and Jews. The nomination of Czech priests into German speaking congregations was an example of Czech conspiracy... I believe many Austrians talked like that after one beer too many but it took a Hitler and a lot of coincidences to bring this c*#p to Berlin and Reichstag... P.S., in their early days National Socialists did not separate themselves so much from Russian Socialist Democrats (Bolsheviks). In early 1920ies Goebbels (!) wrote that Hitler and Lenin had so much in common, both were good speakers and great leaders... But affection remained, and Hitler learned a lot from Bolsheviks - concentration camps (Slava trudu - Arbeit Macht Frei), and the possibility of a large scale genocide (Ukrainian Holodomor) that was a revelation to him.
I, too, have an impression that Hitler always talked with affection about Dr Bloch who cured his mother for free, for she could not afford to pay, saying that if all Jews were his like he had no problem with them at all.
to understand the root cause. Of course it is impossible to find one and the only one the source of his hate. Hitlers mental predisposition is surely a mental desease. But Hitler hated other athnic and national groups. He hated Poles,Russians.Gypsies... But one persons hate could not have alone cause the tragedy and murders on gigantic scale during WWII.It was the Germaan nation whose majority adopted Hitlers Hate and carried out the attrocities. It was published in recent article in Haaretz that 46% of Germans were mambers Nazi movement. It is important to point out that 54% of Germans just looked the other way. There was no significant or widespread resistance to Nazis among Germans between 1933 and 1945.That is waht really should be researched and find the root cause of such national following of a person like Hitler who was in fact a mentally disturbed individual. Some Other nations since 1945 also followed the patern of hate and atrocities Hutus on Tutus,SerbsvsBosnian.SudanDarfur
I Read he had saved the Doctor.
...personal motives for the unforgivably vile approach he took, he was also a consummate politician and, as such, was well aware of the immense demagogic value of singling out a defenseless and historically persecuted minority to blame for every ill under the sun. (The generic nature of Hitler's abominable crime was not unique--but the magnitude and shocking ferocity of it certainly was.)
There were many reasons for the hatred he harbored against Jews. But the one which probably pushed him over was when he was rejected in an oral interview administered by Jewish professors, when he applied as a student to an art school. For a person who was credited for making over 700 paintings, this can be very traumatic.
Does the source of Hitler's depravity matter as much as 'how' he led an entire nation and many of an entire continent to do his will? Does 'why' Hitler was able to draw hundreds of millions of people into his depravity? Hitler was a monster. What is monstrous is how he led his nation and other nations, into his depravity.
It was a Jewish officer named Goldmann in the German Army who recommended Hitler for Germany's highest military medal, the Iron Cross First Class. Hitler didn't refuse the medal just because it came from a Jew.
Rabid mad dogs do not need a reason to bite.Sociopaths and paranoid schyzophrenics do not need a reason to act...If this wreched specimen of a human being would not have had the financial help of many german industrialists, bankers and big businesses,he would have been another of the many sickos festering around...he was only a billboard the real culprits and facilitators came out from the tragedy with barely a scratch on their fortunes, including the noble "neutral" swedes that supplyed him with all his IRON ORE,and the noble brits that gave him Czeckoslovakia with all its industiral might for free...
According to Alan Hart "The real enemy of the Jews: the zionists", relates the history of the times, and maintains that Israel exists thanks to European reaction to the holocaust. Given that Weizmann, ben Gurion and others made several contacts with Adolf so that he would allow the Move to Zion, and pressured Truman not to issue visas for the US. the sequence of your founding fathers should be as follows (according to Hart): Herzl, Jabotinski, Hitler/Holocaust, Truman (VERY reluctanty and under tremendous pressure from zionists and US supporters, Weizmann, Bevin, Ben Gurion, Menachem Begin..... What an illustrious ancestry! PS. I have read the your founder Adolf was Jew by his mother side, hence a real one.
Looking at a picture of his mother made me wonder if she had a Jewish ancestor not too far back.
That the doctor showed kindness and generosity to treating Adolphs mother and was allowed to leave with his life and even some money to get him going elsewhere. I also heard that his cook was Jewish and though chagrined was the Gestapo, he didnt let anyone touch her. Apocryphal stories? Maybe a poster here can clarify these stories.
Germany was forced into WWI by France, England, and Russia. The Boshevik Revolution had Jewish roots and many Jews embraced communism. Jewish monies flowed out of Germany to English banks, further weakening Germany's ability to fight. When Germany surrendered unconditionally, the monies flowed back to Germany and everything was bought up for a song. German Jewry was thriving in all areas, paid for from the very monies that had been hidden. Hitler had great contempt for anyone who wasn't loyal to the Fatherland. The Shoah wasn't justified but the hatred becomes understandable. Salaam/Shalom
the Jews in Austria for the fact that he was a failed Artist. That his rantings in Mein Kampf were enacted on by syncopants in the Nazi regime to curry favour, with Adolf. Or it could be after plundering the wealth of the Jews to fund his policies they became surplus to requirments. And Himmler in an attempt to be Hitlers righthand man and therefore his natural heir perpertrated the Holocaust.
To get real insight on Hitler the best book probably wriiten was,"Explaining Hitler" by Ron Rosenbaum. The truest explaination of Hitler was he was a political criminal, this was the belief of the Munich newspapers of the time, before he shut them down.
The good Dr. did what he could and never charged the family for treatment. He wrote in Mein Kampf his reasons for his hatred of the Jew. The Dr. was not one of them. Something about the current Iranian president tells me he is much the fan of Adolf Hitler. Both were/are sick.
I have been waiting for this important question for a long time but the answer is completely wrong and unsatisfactory. Try again and express the right answer.
This doctor was interviewed by US intelligence afte rhe emigrated. He said Hitler was devastated when his mother died, but was very grateful to the doctor. Hitler allowed the doctor to sell all of his possesions before lweaving Germany too. Hitler called him a Juden Mensch and said if all Jews were like him, there wouldnt be a jewish problem.
While there were probably many factors leading up to the Balfour Declaration, the most commonly cited one is as a reward by the then British government to Chaim Weitzman for his help in their winning WW1, by developing a process enabling them to manufacture acetone, a chemical vital in the war effort. At that time Weitzman was a chemist, working in Manchester and also the acknowledged Zionist leader in the diaspora. He was appointed Israel's first President in 1948.
There is little point in trying to explain the Nazi phenomenon, and especially Hitler's(and others") hatred of the Jews by logical or rational means. It goes a bit deeper than that. To Hitler and those of his Aryan persuasion, there were 3 powerful races in the world dating back to antiquity:The Aryans, the Jews and the Gypsies (Roma people). In the contest for racial supremacy and world domination, the Aryans looked to the others as competitors and so they needed to be eliminated. To couch this mission in language the average German could understand, a mixture of traditional Christian anti-Semitic language was used, as well as biological/racial imagery (virus, sub-human, human parasite, etc). Anti-Semitic elements of the Church supported this, although likely they were unaware of the eventual dimensions involved and the fact that they would soon follow had the Nazis been victorious. Those interested should investigate the esoteric aspects of National Socialism and its antecedents.
in Austria that rejected his paintings. Nobody knows. This is just some author trying to cash in on the 6 million. He is not alone. Greed has no respect for the murdered.
This is another one of these stories that one hears from time to time. Another story is that he consorted with a Jewish prostitute who gave him syphilis and made him sterile. Another story is that his mother had Jewish blood, but I don't remember the full story. the final analysis is that Hitler hated Jews and we see what he perpetrated. This is his legacy after 120 years since his birth.
THE NAZIS AMOUNTING TO FOURTY TWO PERCENT OF THE GERMAN NATION LET THE JEWISH DOCTOR BLOCK EMIGRATE TO THE USA . THE NAZI FUHRER AGREED TO IT .
the balfour declaration meant new loans from to UK in 1917 ww1 from rothchild, a hasbara campaign in USA to draw it into the war, and most importantly no more loans to germany...all in all it insured a german defeat in ww1....so now you know the real story
Is that the same as what AIPAC is doing? Funding pro-Israel politicians so that their not so pro-Israel rivals lose?
.. in exchange for American-Jewish banquiers funding of the Germans defeat in "The Great War" had nothing to with it? :-D
This is only one of many "theories" to account for Hitler's pathological Jew-hatred, aside from the fact that he was simply insane (which accounts for his similar antipathy to Bolshevism, and starting a World War and directing it to a denouement which destroyed Germany in the process). What this headline-grabbing theory misses is what accounts for the widespread similarly pathological and murderous anti-Semitism among so many others who didn't have Jewish doctors. The literature is replete with those analyses, which are far more valuable as historical lessons than speculation about Hitler's mother's doctor and his treatments.
The doctor was real -- but Hitler felt kindly towards him. Hitler ordered that he be exempted from persecution, deportation, and extermination. 'Leave this Jew alone.' I could well be wrong -- but that's my understanding.
