Well, the "Family Guy" turned "Family Goy" for its second episode on Monday, with Peter ready to convert and Stewie in payot and a kippah reciting a "L'hadlik Ner" blessing during a Passover seder.
The Jewish plotline begins when a breast cancer scare leads Lois (voiced by Jewish actress Alex Borstein) to discover that her mother, Barbara Pewterschmidt, is a Holocaust survivor who gave up her Judaism to help her husband get into country clubs "It was the right thing to do, dear," Mrs. Pewterschmidt says).
"So Grandma Hebrewberg is actually Jewish?!" Lois asks.
"Yes, when she moved to America, her family changed their name. It was originally Hebrewbergmoneygrabber," her mother says.

People are quite willing to laugh at anything Family Guy makes fun of, whether that be stereotyping a certain sector of race, gender or belief. But when it comes to the show pointing out the funny side of something that applies to THEM, it suddenly becomes offensive. This isnt how the show works, you must watch every episode with a broad and open attitude, and receive it as this: the show is not directly aiming to show YOU up, but instead is hightlighting the attitudes of certain people towards you, by taking on a certain persona within the characters in the show and making these people look stupid for having that attitude. Whats more, making fun of these people in the proccess. Although it does make fun of you colour or creed, its intention isn't to offend, but to make you laugh at yourself and people who have a problem with who you are or what you beleive in. Also, its not real, it is a cartoon!
Even though Family Guy is not meant to be taken seriously, this is an exception for me. I found this episode offensive, and hard to watch, its loaded with stereotypes, and anti-semitism. Shame on you Family Guy. Also, Keep in mind that this show is being broadcasted all across America and the rest of the world. It disgusts me to see people that don't know any better laughing at this crap. There was definitely no laughs coming from me.
im a huge fan of Family guy. They even made fun of arabs, which im ok with. Plus its freedom of speech, its a cartoon too...where have i reminisced this scene?? hmm.....
what the f--k was that episode all about??
Do you get offended when they make Asian jokes, or Black jokes hmm what about when they make fun of Arabs. I am Jewish and living in Israel and all my friends and I have watched this episode and laughed our butts off. You should not be offended by something that was clearly meant to poke fun of the stereotypes. Laugh more at the little stuff you will live longer.
where the young man casually offers "sodomy" to the daughter. This is seriously the most demented show ever created. And of course just after the show, my wife is on her facebook farm and a neighbor of hers has made a few swastikas made of crops. And she reluctantly removed him as a friend. What the heck man?!
it's a cartoon! there are more important things going on in the world...
I saw the show. Am I the only one that was totally offended? It was blatantly anti semitic. They through every anti semitic stereo type about Jews into this episode. I don't care if the actors or writers are Jewish. This was anti semitic trash.
nicely done on spotting the implications...lol..
Family Guy makes Jewish jokes often, but this episode kind of went over board. The entire episode was dedicated to making fun of Jews. I think that the writers of Family Guy are overestimating their audience.
This means that the episode where Chris Griffon goes for his bar-mitzvah in Las Vegas was actually viable. It also means that should meg wind up marrying Neil, that it wouldn't be an intermarriage.
