Vandals spray 'Hitler Good' on Polish Holocaust monument

Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Radoslaw Sikorski expressed his condemnation for the act of vadalism as well as his hope a prosecutor office will have no mercy for the vandals. Mr. Sikorski said the vandals had acted against Poland. His opinion about the vandals is of the same kind as his opinion on the people who express their antisemitism on the Internet. Yesterday, in the tribute for Krakow Holocaust victims many young Poles (among other few hundred people) took part in the March of Alive carrying the flag of Poland. The participants named the act of hatred and vandalism as "shame", "disgrace", "infamy".

In a letter addressed to Chief of Krakow Jewish Community Mr. Tadeusz Jakubowicz, Card. Stanislaw Dziwisz - Krakow Metropolitan of the Catholic Church, expressed solidarity with the Jewish Community and all the people who have been affected with the barbarian act of profanation of the monument of Holocaust victims. His Excellency expressed his pain as well as clear condemnation of the act of vandalism directed against the Jewish community.

This is Poland and they're writing in English? Motive here is publicity and I can see they got it. "Oh, no! Not another hate crime!"

BDF - thanks for your comment. But speaking about how foolish people can be - remember the case of a couple of neo-Nazi Israeli youngsters some time ago? It was all over the media. Yes, that was something very unusual (and they were immigrants from Russia - though don't ask me what reasons do Russians have to love Hitler), but I'm referring to it to show that you can find mighty idiots everywhere. Jackie, The profiteers were everywhere, not just in Poland. Read Wyman's The World Responds to the Holocaust--for most of its history, Polish-Jewish relations were good. And while there were collaborators, there were also rescuers--the largest number of rescued Jews came out of Poland. At this time, I think we have to focus on building bridges, not tearing them down.

There are idiots in every country. Whoever wrote "Hitler is good" and if these people were Polish, they must be really stupid. I personally think that the vandals where some bored local "punks" looking for attention but it could be anybody, including Middle Easterners living in Poland. Please do jump into conclusions that "all Poles are anti-semites" and do not post things such as "most Poles helped Nazis during WW2" because such nonsense is embarrassing to read.

Now that there are almost no Jews in Poland, this actually works rather well. Israel and Poland are a thousand miles apart. Poles can hate Jews, and Jews can hate Poles, and no one need get hurt. We need to realize that cameras on people are not to be permitted all the time. However standard protection unit cameras on historical sites may protect. It use to be in the past as you entered the White House or Parlimentary building of Israel that you were handed a card of notification that you were on camera at all times. In no way is this looney or a high security risk just like cameras on Air Force One. Making peace with the right hand of Israel while the left hand pounds war are two different things. My father GRS was Polish.He spent 3 years in Siberia as a guest of the Russians but never said a bad word about them. Then he came to Scotland with the Polish Army and there in the Polish barracks just outside Glasgow he encountered more Antisemitism than he had experienced during the whole War.Maybe you heard about the Jewish Polish survivors of Auschwitz who upon returning home to their villages were thrown from clifftops to their deaths. What I'll never understand is that the cowardly ilk of this kind do not realize how it makes them look - they don't have the courage to face those who they hate. 100 000 Polish catholics were murdered in Auschwitz. Poland as only one country in occupied europe dont have collaborated goverment(Norway, France,Slovakia,Hungary,Romania Have !!!!!!!!) Poland dont create military Nazi unit (Wlasov in russia or Bandera in ukraine) Polish serve in RAF in Battle of England and in the battle of Monte Cassino and Tobruk. Most poles eagerly helped Hitler's killing machine, turning in their Jewish neighbors. When a few survivors returned to Poland, they were either killed or, if lucky, turned away from the homes that had been seized by those same Polish neighbors. The only thing that has changed is that their are fewer Jews in Poland to hate.

It means that some Polish People never learned it was wrong.
