U.S. asks Switzerland to extradite Roman Polanski
Polanski, a Holocaust survivor, was arrested in September, more than 30 years after he fled unlawful sex charges.
By Reuters Tags: Israel newsThe United States has asked Switzerland to extradite film director Roman Polanski after he fled sentencing for having unlawful sex with a 13-year-old girl in 1977, the Swiss Justice Department said on Friday.
"The U.S. extradition request is based on a warrant issued by the Superior Court of the State of California for the County of Los Angeles on 1 February 1978, on which date Polanski had failed to appear before the judge as was required by his bail conditions," the department said in a statement.
The 76-year-old Oscar-winning director, a Holocaust survivor who holds dual French and Polish citizenship, was arrested at the request of the United States when he flew into Switzerland on Sept. 26 to receive a lifetime achievement prize at a film festival.

He raped a child and ran from justice. Personaly i think he should be death penalty, but realistically let him serve the 90 days or whatever he agreed to and then add 10 years for fleeing. Let the boys in prison drug him and sadomize him so that he experiences the same thing he admitted to doing to a child.
A rich and famous rabist is still a rabist.
The case of Roman Polanski as seen by most here in Switzerland is clear. He is a wanted pedophile. Period. Strange enough, he often visits his holiday home in Switzerland. Due to his well publicized visit to the Zurich Film Festival, the US Government decided to finally act. Was his "official visit" a defiant slap in the face.? He will of course be extradited. Switzerland is no more the home of wanted criminals less so pedophiles. Good day from snowy Swiss Alps.
