Holocaust survivors watch Jewish renegades kill Nazis
Tarantino screened his Inglorious Basterds at the Museum of Tolerance for an audience full of survivors.

It was at the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles, and the director himself sat quietly in the third row. This was probably his thousandth screening, and on this night he seemed more interested in the crowd than in his film.
Tarantino watched as 300 Jews sat transfixed, eyes wide and jaws gaping, as Lt. Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) whipped out his Bowie knife and began carving a swastika into a Nazi's forehead.
There was a collective gasp and a few "ohs," but no one turned away. This was too good, watching Nazis get scalped, brutalized and beaten; this is what should have happened, the audience seemed to be thinking; this is what the Nazis deserved.
It wasn't hard to sense the visceral reactions that scene provoked, especially among those who had been victimized by real Nazis: relief, revenge, disgust, pleasure. And the awkward bursts of nervous laughter. "Basterds" drew out long-buried emotions that suddenly became raw and immediate.

"dyinglikeflies" is absolutely right, we -- or rather movie directors creating films about Jewish Resistance during WW2 shouldn't be going off on fantastic adventures of "What if it happened this way instead" And for goodness sake, if they're going to do that, they should at least have the decency to not make a movie as stupid as "Inglorious Basterds" I watched the movie, it wasn't funny at all and it was so lame that it couldn't be taken even half seriously. There should be more movies similar to "Defiance" telling true stories of courage and survival, not this "Inglorious Basterds" Shlock.
After seeing this hedious movie of stupid childess "revenge" by Mr Tarentino I wish that he had the decentcy to have not made it. His movie belittles the memory of those real Jews who did vengence in the name of our people during the war as partisian fighters - Yitzchor the fighters of Ghetto Warsaw! and after as members of Dahm Yisrael Nokem - DIN. Those Jews who did manage to escape the Ghettos and fought back were few. The amount of collaboration among the anti-Semites of ALL of Europe doomed many brave Jews to their death. Those Jews that did fight were not as sadistical as the SS were - the use of Jewish skin for lampshades, injections of blue dye into childrens eyes, medical experiments - for the quickest way to remove a uterus or testicles to name a few.
So. OK! Zionism fullfilled and Israel Homeland foundered after nearly 2000yr. The whole earth movement helped by the Round the world Empire and newly USA far too Esau for good Jacobites. Eden and Jews committee went on to win the war and paid highly as well. In 67 AD a lot happened as Masada was lost and the Torah captured:following vesuvius eruption Vespasian etc built Colloseum from Temple stone and dedicated it to sports and seems basic to todays wotld sport crazes: Bodicca fought the Romans and lost as a matriarchal move: the triumvirate rule of Rome saw Augustus Caesar cause Anthony and Cleopatra suicides and the likely foundastion of the Eastern Empire and Muslim faith. All this and now the Earth can be governed with Nation State and full link to the Empire round the world with all our technology and interest to see the wonder of human art over the Great Creator's basic forms. Maybe UK and Israel have a seed that can make us proud of Earth and believe we won the war.
We were murdered in our sleep. We dd not win- we died. Rather than creating revisionist fantasies about how we won, our cultural energies must be forever focused on how never to be caught asleep again.
I have not seen this movie, yet. It may not have been a band of Jews, but it did happen. Nobody discusses this, but it was, more or less, sanctioned. The idea was to find ex=nazis, shoot them, and lay the gun on his chest.
Thousands of ss and other nazis fled to South America after their defeat...between brazil,argentina,paraguay,bolivia and chile,250.000 where sheltered.Many were advisors to dictators like stroesner in paraguay and otto skorzeny,hitler's prefered commando was the lover of eva peron...BUT AT LEAST IN BRAZIL,MANY OF THEM DIED OF "LEAD POISONING"...
I refuse to see this stupid movie. Yes, that's what SHOULD have happened; unfortunately, it isn't what DID happen. What's next? A movie about how the Indians drove the white man from the shores of North America? The Titanic patched up and making to shore with all hands safe? stupid stupid stupid.
