Prominent Jewish couple murdered in Istanbul
Turkish police searching for the couple's caretaker, who fled the house after the stabbing.
A prominent Jewish couple was stabbed to death in their Istanbul home on Friday, the Hurriyet Daily News reported.
The two, were Jak, 77, and Georgia Karako, 69, founders of Ören Bayan, a leading Turkish textile company.
It was unclear what the motive behind the stabbing was.
According to the Hurriyet report, the couple's caretaker, fled the home and the police are searching for him.
“There have been several reported murders of Turkish Jewish businessmen throughout the past several years, but these incidents were either never solved or were blamed on some small local disputes which the community always looked at with suspicion,” an anonymous source with knowledge of the Turkish Jewish community told Algemeiner.
