Mayim Bialik explains why she donated money to the Israeli army
In a blog post, the Jewish-American actress provides three reasons for helping Israelis at war.
“Every soldier is someone’s son or daughter,” wrote Jewish-American actress Mayim Bialik on Wednesday in a blog post on Kveller.com, explaining why she donated money to send bulletproof vests to the Israel Defense Forces.
The other two reasons, she wrote, were: “1. I need to feel like I’m doing something”, and “2. No matter what your politics are, soldiers sent into war zones deserve to be protected from enemy fire.”
Her blog post was published after Operation Protective Edge entered its fourth week on Tuesday.
Earlier this month, the actress said that people have posted messages on social media describing her as a horrible person for being Jewish, and saying that “all Israel supporters are Nazis and hate Palestinian children and want them dead.” But “that’s just wrong and ridiculous”, she wrote.
In that article, the mother of two said she could not get Israel off her mind, nor the plight of the Palestinian people and the Israeli Arabs and Jews who were “being shelled with rockets”.
“I wish all of the Israel haters would learn more about Israel”, she wrote, “And I wish all of the Arab haters would stop hating in the name of religion.”
