All racist actions and statements must be confronted and not be allowed
to perpetuate. This is a world of ethnic, religious and many other
facets of diversity. Many peoples have suffered atrocities because of
racist beliefs embedded in their culture and/or religion.
The anti-Semetic and anti-Zionist venom that permeates most of your
readership is some really scary stuff. Why do these people seem to
gravitate to Ha'aretz?
"...we do not permit individuals or groups to attack others based
on their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender, sexual
orientation, disability or medical condition." Zionism itself
violates Facebook's community standards.
And exactly how does Zionism do that? Israel has an open policy
accepting Jewish immigrants from all over the world, regardless of their
color or branch of Judaism, secular or religious. It is also the only
country in the Middle East where gays and lesbians can serve openly in
the IDF. Arabs can be treated in Israeli hospitals and 120 Kosovar
refugees were given safe haven in Israel while the Serbs were conducting
ethnic cleaning in the Balkans...I think all aspects of the community
standards are covered there...
... and resist the conflation of it with anti-Zionism. We cannot win the
battle against anti-Semitism as long as we continue to conflate it with anti-Zionism.
Israel is held to an exaggeratedly higher moral standard compared to
any other country with severe human rights abuses. It also has
disproportionately more strikes against it in the UN than does any other
country. The only explanation I can think of for this double standard
is because Israel is a JEWISH state.
