Appointed as chief rabbi of Britain's largest Jewish organization, Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis is not revolutionary. But this could, in fact, work in his favor.
It was exactly a year ago when a seasoned veteran of one of Britain's venerable Jewish institutions accurately predicted the course of selecting the new chief rabbi of the kingdom. "They will play around with flashy and exciting names for the next year and in the end they will settle for a safe choice, probably someone like Ephraim Mirvis," he said.
