Well, I suppose Foxman earns it. I was going to say I'd make as big a fool of myself as he does for that much, but on second thought...
No wonder there is no aliya from America. Why would any of these clowns promote aliya. If their organizations decline so do their salaries. For these clowns if really pays to be Jewish. Because of that both Israel and the Galut suffer and the Arabs have a good laugh at our expense.
these salaries are obsene. Where do these salaries come from/? I assume tax deductble donations from American tax payers?
lawyer. ; )
as it's all the backs of the American Taxpayers... Isn't that the way it's supposed to be?? TATA
And donations to advocacy organizations like AIPAC (like all other Political Action Committees (PACs) are not tax deductable in the first place. Zero loss to the taxpayers. Apparently, "Edithann" does not pay US income taxes, or she would know all this.
How about publishing the takes of the officers of the Claims Conference?
no doubt a lucrative strategy
These salaries are far less than the salaries of top executives at many reasonable and large sized US companies. In general executives in the US cannot justify their high salaries. The usual argument is market conditions, which is pure baloney, but that is an issue for shareholders who are getting ripped off by the executives who have a cozy relationship with the board of directives. Executives at universities and organizations that exist on donations are a greater outrage. In disgust I have stopped donating and when asked I point out how much of the donation goes to administrative expense, usually well over 30%.. You all should stop donating. That would fix it. Where would these overpaid, overstuffed executives go? i know one very deep place.
only 2 women on the list. lowest and 2nd-to-lowest salaries there. Doesn't say a whole lot about how Jews think about their women. :(
Who pays these generous salaries. I hope they are paid by the US Taxpayers or from the Three Billion Dolars Israel gets annualy from the US Taxpayers. Some earns more that the US President.
Did you see how much the president of YU makes?! ~900K a year?! No wonder tuition is so high.
In this case, charity begins with the executive directors' homes.
I am completely demotivated to make donations to these so-called "non profit organizations" which offer such high salaries to their leaders. I resent the idea that my contributions should be used to partly subsidize the enormous income of their administrators. Gentlemen, you may take me out of the list of potential contributors to your organizations!
Many complain about the often unseemly salaries earned by company CEOs, but such salary inflation extends well beyond the private sector. It extends to university professors and administrators, government workers (I was one until recently), and heads of "non-profit" advocacy groups. So the problem isn't limited to the heads of "Jewish" groups, but is certainly one where we, when asked to contribute, should be asking questions. We are, in effect, creating an "elite class" of the privileged. I was considering contributing to one group based in Jerusalem through its US fund-raising arm until I learned that only 71% of the funds raised went to the program's activities. The rest went to administrative and fundraising expenses - including a salary of almost $300,000 to a certain "rabbi" who headed the group. I elected not to support them, and I wrote them explaining why. (I received no reply.)
That is all
runs throough all these Jewish elite establishment organisations and that is the philosophy that you need these kind of salaries to make money from the monied. To hell with those who dont. Propaganda generation pays well.
If there were an emergency and North American Jews had to flee, there would be less money to pay for their plane tickets. Think ahead! We Jews have always had to do that and there's no reason to stop now.
Jewish leaders need to set an example of voluntary leadership by receiving not material goods as compensation. There must be a many capable retired people who can afford volunteering their services to a cause bigger than themselves. Compensation will derived by the feeling of well being, by servicing the benefit of all. Jewish Volunteers for Tikkun Olam Unite!
And there's little doubt these guys' reimbursable expenses exceed the average American income - on top of these wages!
And there's little doubt these guys' reimbursable expenses exceed the average American income - on top of these wages!
I dated a girl whose dad worked for an organization and 80% of his work was golfing, vacations and lunches. This isn't even acceptable as the CEO of a company, but this was standard for half of his office.
One guy in Africa said: "we had no religion but had land & wealth". Then church people told us " close your eyes and pray".. When we opened our eyes, we had bible in our hands and the church had the land & wealth in their hand. That goes for all organized religions... Show me the money...
C'mon this is too much. Of course CEOs deserve a good salary, but not that much. Like in the "Jerry McGuire" movie, let's do "show me the money" dance. P.S.: I respect J-Street
I've worked and with some of these people, and their salary hurts especially considering that I started working at 23K per year. That being said, you have to look at it in context. Most of these agencies spend under 20% of monies received on overhead and expenditures, which is very good. Unicef is at 61%. Not to mention that these agencies handle very, very large amounts of money. So as much as it kills me to see these guys make these salaries, and the average Montreal surgical resident make about 3.50$ an hour, I can't fault them anymore than I can the average businessman who makes an obscene salary.
The only bearing that has on the concerns being raised here is that it suggests that as charitable income increases - so do the the incomes of their CEO's. The percentages don't change much if at all.
These do not seem to be "market rate" salaries only a few being less than Obama himself gets paid. I'm not sure that running a charity is more onerous and responsible than running a country but its fuel for the fire for those who say that ADL and AIPAC are running the US!
Do any search for large charities and you'll see there clearly is a "market rate" from charitynavigator.org "Of the charities on our site, there are 93 charities that accept government funding and also pay their CEO $500,000 or more. These organizations include: Boys & Girls Clubs of America, American Red Cross (recipient of a $100 million government bailout), Easter Seals, March of Dimes, and the American Cancer Society. Of these 93 charities, 33 accept more than $100 million in government funding and pay their CEO $500,000 or more. These organizations include: Stanford University, Harvard University, The New York Public Library, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. "
So now it is clear why most of these people are working 24/7 to save us all from the next pogrom. Without the sense of emergency and constant hysteria the steady stream of donations might stop. Most of these figures are nothing but con artists.
Abe Foxman has to keep folks stirred up. It pays well.
this is shocking. Look at those salaries! They far outstrip most executive salaries at US non-profits. Whew!
