Houdini resurrected for Jewish Museum exhibit
New York City Jewish Museum focuses on escape artist and magician who was also the son of a Reform rabbi.
Renowned escape artist Harry Houdini is currently the subject of a major exhibit at The Jewish Museum in New York City.
Houdini, born Ehrich Weiss, achieved great fame at the beginning of the previous century by performing astounding magic tricks and escaping from handcuffs, even after being strip-searched beforehand.
The Jewish Museum of New York is presenting the retrospective on Houdini because of his significance "as a Jew who made it into the mainstream," considered a great feat in his time.
